Quality & Balance
Our Food Philosophy
Our restaurant is housed in the beloved Cox-Swanson home, a property that has stood the test of time for over two centuries. Built in the late 1700s and lovingly expanded over the years, this house was once the residence of Perry’s former mayor and, later, Ms. Norine Swanson Jones—a remarkable woman who inspired our name. A talented musician, devoted educator, and cherished member of the Perry community, Ms. Swanson once ran the town’s first kindergarten right here in these very rooms.

In 2002, The Swanson opened its doors with a mission to serve classic Southern cuisine in a setting that feels just like home. With its white tablecloths, wrap-around porch, and vintage charm, the restaurant quickly became a local favorite. Our menu features time-honored dishes like crispy fried chicken, fried green tomatoes, and our famous little biscuits—recipes rooted in Southern tradition and made with love.

Today, The Swanson continues to be a gathering place for family, friends, and neighbors. Whether you’re celebrating something special or simply stopping in for lunch, we invite you to slow down, stay awhile, and savor the flavors of the South.

Welcome to our home. We’re glad you’re here.
